Transport your students to the early 20th century as The Mariners’ Museum brings history to life with activities focusing on the tragic 1912 sinking of Titanic.
For only $10 per person, students will interact with costumed interpreters, play period games, and make crafts to take home. Students can also participate in interactive programs that will introduce them to the history, technology, and mystery surrounding the R.M.S. Titanic.
Scheduled Programs
Hardtack-the-Mouse Goes to America
For K-2nd • 10:15-11 A.M. and 1-1:45 P.M..*
Hear the adventurous tale of Hardtack-the-Mouse as he sets sail for America aboard the R.M.S. Titanic! We’ll retrace his trip as he meets the friendly (and not-so-mouse-loving) people in first, second, and third class, all while experiencing the sights and sounds aboard the “unsinkable” ship. Then, we’ll join Hardtack as he survives the ship’s sinking aboard a lifeboat and eventually makes it safely to New York City!

TITANIC
For 3rd-12th • 10:30-11:30 A.M. and 1-2 P.M..*

The sinking of the Titanic on its maiden voyage is one of the most infamous maritime stories of all time. During this program, students will gain an understanding of early 20th century society as reflected by the passengers aboard. They will also learn about the events leading up to its collision with an iceberg and subsequent demise during the early morning hours of April 15, 1912. The program concludes with a discussion of the legacy of Titanic’s sinking.

How the “Unsinkable” Ship Sank
For 5th-12th • 10:30-11:30 A.M. and 1-
2 P.M..*

How could an iron ship be considered “unsinkable”? How did hull design and construction factor into her seaworthiness? How did her modern technology fail? This educational program utilizes students’ creativity and knowledge to analyze the reasons why Titanic sank. Students will be tasked with devising the means to improve her technology and see how their solutions compare to the changes actually enacted.

Odds & Ends
Teachers, home educators, or other adult chaperones are asked to accompany their students to this event. Adults will be charged the student rate of $10 per person.
School groups bringing at least 10 students will receive a complimentary adult ticket for every 5 students. Additional chaperones will be charged the student rate of $10 per person.
Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free-of-charge but will not receive a program pass. If you would like your child to participate in a scheduled program, please select the “Student” ticket instead of the “Child” ticket when registering.
Tickets include admission to the Museum from 9:30 A.M.. to 5 P.M., as well as access to crafts, activities, scavenger hunts, and scheduled programming held between 9:30 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
Tickets do not reserve space in a particular scheduled program. Students are admitted into scheduled programs on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Museum will make every effort possible to provide a seat for each student.

Museum Members automatically receive a 10% discount.
Where do I sign up?
Registration for the 2012 Titanic Day is now closed. Families still interested in visiting the Museum on April 13 are welcome to join us as regular visitors . However, please note that many of the day’s special activities are only opened to registered participants.
